Important Dist. 3 Convension and Covid-19 Update
Sec BC EXCOM Officer
For those from BC planning to attend or know someone interested in the District convention,
Please read carefully the information below from Carl Mischka and follow the directions for registration for “virtual” conventions conducted by telephone network. There will be no District convention in Greenville, NC this year.
Pay close attention to this statement from Carl: "Please feel free to spread the word on this among your colleagues, friends and neighbors (but do not hold an assembly for that purpose). Comments and questions are always welcome; you will receive additional details as they are known."
Gail Breed, Sec BC EXCOM Officer
Chairman NCGOP District 3
All, due to Covid-19 and the Governor’s Executive Order all NCGOP Conventions from this date forward, up to and possibly including our mid-May State Convention in Greenville, will NOT be in-person Conventions but will be “virtual” conventions conducted by telephone network. There are several details being worked out as I write but we have the advantage of several District Conventions preceding us which Dave Wickersham and I will attend as non-participants.
We are dealing with unprecedented, extraordinary circumstances and everyone may not be happy with the measures your Convention Committee and Officers have been forced to take to conduct our necessary and possible abbreviated business without having a face-to-face Convention. I ask everyone for their understanding and support.
Our Registration forms are being modified and will be posted on www.3rdncgop.com soon, an option memo will go out to those already registered who have paid the original Registration fee which included day-long refreshments and lunch. The new Registration fee is $15.00. I can’t stress how important it is that the phone number provided during the registration process be the number from which you will call to participate as it will be used to verify delegate status to allow voting on any/all issues including the election of 3 Delegates and 3 Alternate Delegates to the RNC Convention in Charlotte in late August as well as a Presidential Elector and Alternate. The Convention will take place from 9AM until complete, on Saturday April 18. We are engaging an experienced outside vendor to help with the technical aspects on the Convention.
Links to the Applications for both Convention Delegate and Elector are found on our website, the deadline for these submissions is April 1.
The revised Convention Rules will be posted early next week, as well as the proposed abbreviated Agenda. Due to the telephonic nature of the Convention discussion on all items will be limited. Most items will be pre-cleared, posted and subject to an up-or-down vote. Delegates and Elector spots will be awarded to the individuals with the most votes, names on the ballot in alphabetical order with no nominations from the floor.
Please feel free to spread the word on this among your colleagues, friends and neighbors (but do not hold an assembly for that purpose). Comments and questions are always welcome; you will receive additional details as they are known.
