Earlier this year the North Carolina Young Republicans (NCYRs) became involved in the fight against human trafficking by making a commitment to raise awareness about this issue. Today, we contact you to let you know about an upcoming event planned in conjunction with the North Carolina State University College Republicans.
North Carolina is one of the highest areas of human trafficking and is currently ranked 8th nationwide. As an organization, we feel that this is outrageous, and want to educate our population on the impending crisis in our state. They intend to host a one day “Breaking the Silence on Slavery: United in the Fight Against Human Trafficking” one day summit on September 8th. This summit will feature a series of panel discussions on topics such as learning how to recognize different signs of human trafficking, how to help prevent it, as well as discussions on legislation and initiatives to raise awareness about human trafficking in the community
It will begin with our keynote speaker Representative Jon Hardister who will share his legislative efforts surrounding this epidemic.
This event will be hosted in Raleigh. If you are interested in attending the luncheon, please register via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fundraiser-luncheon-tickets-48952634648
All proceeds will be distributed to the 15 anti-human trafficking organizations that will be participating from across NC.
Details about the main event, which is free of charge, can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/584721748551143/
Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
